The Charity Helping Brumbies
In 2023 the Snowy Brumby Horsemanship Team decided to start a registered charity to help wild horses and brumbies that were in need of a new home. We are very proud to be also a registered as a gift recipient for tax purposes so all donations are tax deductible.
The S.B.H. Charity is managed by a volunteer board of directors who match the needs of the brumbies to the donations given. If you wish to learn more or would like to make a donation please send an email through the contact us page.

Supporting Saving & Training Brumbies
Our SBH Charity raises money to help save and give Snowy Brumbies a good and successful domestic life after they have been taken from the wild. We believe every brumby deserves the right domestic home, and we know what makes the Snowy Brumby happy with their small mob on private land now owned and care for. We raise funds to not only assist our own brumbies but more importantly to help any brumby that needs help.
We get phone calls and messages of request nearly every week asking our help to re-rescue brumbies that haven’t worked out in their first home. Sometimes a brumby simply ends up in the wrong hands or needs more time and understanding than their new home can give. Our charity helps bring these horses back in, get them settled, retrained and back on the right track, with the aim of finding them a proper home where they can stay for good.
Funding Research into How Snowy Brumbies Can Help Manage Serrated Tussock Weed
Living and free-grazing in our own bushland, we began to notice something pretty remarkable about our Snowy Brumbies — they were choosing to eat Serrated Tussock, a declared weed, as part of their natural grazing. Over more than ten years, we watched the country change. Areas that had once been thick with Serrated Tussock were noticeably improved, and our neighbours began asking if we could put brumbies on their properties to help manage the weed.
What started as something we simply observed on our own land has now grown into an area of research. Through the SBH Charity, we raise funds to support scientifically managed trials on rural properties, documenting the results and gathering evidence on how Snowy Brumbies may be used as part of a practical approach to Serrated Tussock management. Our aim is to properly investigate what we have seen on the ground and see whether the brumbies can play a useful role in managing this difficult weed.
